Hello readers, I hope you're all doing well! I'm right in the midst of final exams right now, so honestly, my blog is a little bit of an afterthought right now. I'm still dedicated to posting twice a week for you all, so today's post is going to be a visual diary of my morning routine! I am a creature of habit and basically do the same routine every morning with only a few exceptions.
First things first, I make my bed. It's a common claim that making your bed first thing in the morning every day sets a positive tone for the rest of your day, and I think it's true. I do it as soon as I manage to get out of bed, and then the rooms looks tidier all day until I climb back into bed.
Once I make it out of the room, I normally head straight for the tea kettle. It's no secret here that I love tea, and my day often feels off if I forget a cup of tea in the morning. While the water boils I make sure to take my vitamins for the day and fill up my water bottle, and then as the tea steeps I set up my devotional for the day. Today I was drinking lavender tea!
Once I've got a hot cup of tea ready, I sit down at my desk to do my devotional. If I can't do this, it throws me off even more than forgetting tea does. This part of my routine is my favorite and often sets me up to conquer the day ahead, no matter what I have going on. This year I have been working through a Bible-in-a-year plan through the Holy Bible Youvision app. It gives me Scripture to read every day and some reflections on it. I write down my thoughts as I go, and when I finish that I move on to the verse of the day. Since I started studying languages, I also began writing out the verse of the day in each language I'm learning. It helps me remember the verse itself and get some writing practice for my languages every day. At the end of my devo time, I say a prayer about anything that's on my heart and pray for guidance during the day ahead, and then can move on with my day feeling positive.
I am a big believer in breakfast. Even if I can't make myself something more extravagant like I would at home, I try to have fruit, toast, or a granola bar. While I eat breakfast I catch up on social media and get a hold on the news of the day. I make a point to not touch social media until this time, I feel like I'm on it for quite a bit during the rest of the day so a couple hours without it doesn't hurt. Once I eat breakfast and pull myself away from social media, I tidy up any mess that I made and do dishes, then move on to getting ready for the day!
That's my morning routine! I find that going through this helps me start my day well every day. Of course, I'm not perfect and I usually go out of my "order" a couple of times a week. I just find that having a consistent routine helps me in many different areas of my life. Be on the lookout for a night routine post soon!
Thank you for reading!
xx, Hannah
