My Summer Goals

Writer: Hannah WrightHannah Wright

Hello everyone! I'm officially off for the summer and that means I have a lot more time on my hands! I'm not normally much of a goal-setter, but it helps me stay productive over my long break. I've already accomplished some of my goals too, although they can roll over from last year too. This will be a wordy post, but without further ado, here are five of my summer goals!

1. Get a job!

I admit, I've already accomplished this. I'll be returning to the job that I had last summer, I was an English tutor. I really enjoy it, it's not full-time either so it will give me time to do photography and design work on the side. I can expand on this goal though, I would really like to get more paid photo or design work this summer. I've been working towards this goal all year by posting more of my work online for people to see.

2. Dive deep into my language learning, specifically Spanish.

July will mark one year since I started studying other languages! While I am proud of the progress I've made, I know I'm not where I could be. As much as I love Duolingo, it doesn't teach the most useful things so I'm going to have to take matters into my own hands. I want to focus on Spanish first because that is my strongest of the three I'm learning. I think that if I dedicate some serious time to it, I can make huge strides in the time that I have. I plan to get a good grasp on the most-used words and be able to put them together in sentences so I can get my point across in most circumstances. I don't need to be writing essays, I just want to be able to communicate more. If I achieve this goal for Spanish, I will move on to French!

3. Update my website with my new work.

After a whole semester of design and photography classes, I have a lot of material to sift through. I will choose the best of it to display, and I'll have to move some things around when it comes to the actual design of my website to accommodate some changes. Of course, I'll be posting about updates as they come so keep an eye out for them!

4. Continue shooting and creating!

My photo and design work don't stop just because the school year ended. I plan to create lots more food photography because while I'm at home, I have a beautiful kitchen and lots more space at my disposal. I'm proud of the images I was able to create in my small, dark school apartment, so I'm even more excited to see what I can come up with on my own turf. I plan to find some design challenges to do to keep my creativity going and create some personal projects as well.

5. Read at least five books.

This is a small number for me, but I wanted to make my goals attainable! I spend so much of my time sitting in front of a computer, I need to do something that gets me away from it. I love reading and I have a list of books I want to read, and summer is the perfect time to get through them. Five books means I'll be reading a little more than one book a month, which is absolutely doable. I think I'll go above and beyond this goal!

These are just a few of the things that I would like to accomplish this summer, maybe they will give you all ideas as well!

Thanks for reading!

xx, Hannah
