Hello everyone! You all may remember posts from last month about my time in New York City (You can find the week recap here, the 5 travel tips here, and my photo diary here!), but one of the things I did while I was there was visiting the Starbucks Reserve Roastery! It's in the base of this huge building and has a beautiful interior with three big counters to order at.
They have a few of these locations worldwide where they offer a coffee experience that's a little more in-depth than your average Starbucks.
They have unique menu items as well, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed mine! I know that sparkling water is an acquired taste for lots of people, and espresso can be that way too. I'm not the biggest fan of coffee, but I wanted to try something anyways. I decided on what the menu said was a "Sparkling Citrus Espresso". I like sparkling water pretty well, and I figured I could stomach espresso along with it. I turned out loving it, though the friend I traveled with thought it was the strangest thing she had tried in a long time. I figured that I could recreate it at home, so I did!
It may look remarkably like iced tea, but it's not! It's really easy to make with only three ingredients. You will need:
Coffee/espresso
Sparkling water
Citrus juice of choice (I used lemon, lime would probably work too!)
Start with a glass of ice and add about a tablespoon of your citrus, you can tailor this to your preference! I find the citrus flavor cuts through quite a lot, so if you love the coffee flavor you have the option to cut back. Top that with the sparkling water, thinking about how much coffee you want. I leave an inch or so of space at the top of the class for the coffee.
Coffee-wise, sadly I don't have a legit espresso machine so I'm still using my little moka pot. It makes a stronger cup of coffee than a drip machine, and you don't need a lot for this recipe so it's perfect. Brew your coffee or espresso, pour it on top of the sparkling water, garnish with a slice of lemon if you want, and you're done!
This is a really easy recipe to make if you've got the ingredients. For most of my drink recipes, I adjust the ingredient proportions depending on the glass or mug I'm using so keep that in mind! If you give it a try, let me know what you think! Thanks for reading,
xx, Hannah
