SEIDO sushi + bar

Awarded a Silver Addy in March 2021!

This is a restaurant branding project for fictional sushi restaurant SEIDO sushi + bar. The name stems from 精度, the Japanese word meaning "precision". "Seido" is the English romanization. Sushi chefs train extensively to uphold the tradition of their craft, and their precision and passion inspired the concept for this restaurant.​

The logo is a wordmark incorporating a custom design in the "o". Circles are motifs of harmony and balance in Japanese art and the mark also includes an element of traditional Japanese design called a mon. A Japanese mon is not unlike a European coat of arms, a custom symbol representing a family or business. Figures within the mon allude to the red sun of Japan's flag, and the iconic torii gates.
